No Boundaries

I’m amazed by the amount of inspiration I can receive through my upstairs window.  I live in West Rogers Park, Chicago, a pseudo city/suburb of the windy city, and my window faces a quiet street.  But all kinds of stuff happens out there, whether it’s two squirrels fighting over one nest in my lone tree or a man who quickly passes by every afternoon pushing his little white dog in a stroller.

No Boundaries!

Yesterday morning, a large truck stopped for a few minutes across the street, directly in view from my window.  It was a black truck with a huge yellow smiley-face sticker planted next to the words NO BOUNDARIES.  NO BOUNDARIES incorporated.  I smiled and got curious about what lesson I could learn from this interesting “message.”  I say “message” because the Baal Shem Tov, the founder of the Chassidic movement, taught that everything in this world is a lesson for our divine service.  After I went outside and snapped a picture, the truck drove off, leaving its purpose for stopping a mystery, but an inspiration never the less for delving into the relevance of this divine providence.

I’m usually really big on “boundary setting”, “establishing healthy boundaries” etc, so I was a bit puzzled how NO BOUNDARIES could be a “good thing.”  The image of recently standing on the beach in San Luis Obispo and watching the salty sea water flow between two large rocks came to my mind.  I stood mesmerized by the beauty of the ocean waves flowing from opposite sides between the large boulders with ease. As they met in the middle, they instantly intermingled to the point where the distinctions of the waves on the right and the waves on the left were dissolved into a non-distinct oneness.  There were no boundaries inhibiting that powerful majestic fluidness.

I realized that this flow is what I have come to experience within my coaching community.  For the past 23 years.*  I have been practicing Jewish orthodoxy , a practice detailed with very specific laws, customs and rituals. As I was busy navigating the complexities of parenting and the demanding lifestyle of my religious tradition, I did not have close contact with the non-jewish world.   In 2014, I joined up with the Martha Beck coaching community through her training course.  I refer to it as stepping onto Martha’s magical mystery tour and every week I was mingling with people so “different” from my orthodox circle.

As I immersed myself in the training, I noticed such a diverse representation of people from all ages, faiths, backgrounds and lifestyles; and yet we all were speaking the same language, that of healing ourselves, that of guiding others to heal and that of bringing a loving, compassionate service to the world.  I was thrilled to discover a group of people who are united by an incredible caring vision and a deep need to increase goodness in the world.

I continue to experience this love and healing again and again when I personally connect with individuals from this community, whether by phone or at coaching events, whether in  coaching/ business relationships or just in friendly interactions. Here is where I see NO BOUNDARIES being revealed in the most divine way.  We are all so distinct from each other and yet the love, acceptance and respect for each other’s differences and our desire for a healed planet empowers a flow of Source that instantly dissolves all the boundaries that could be used to separate us.

I dedicate this article to my coach who on a continual basis I am blessed to experience the divine power of healing.  Our differences could have been used to divide and instead we are graced to reveal the unlimited potential of humans to unite through compassion, deep acceptance and respect.  This is a  giant step forward in revealing the G-dly light of Geula.
